WEEX vs Kraken

Money goes in through Kraken, trading happens on WEEX. The pair works better than picking one.

Compared by the numbers

Everything below is read from the platforms directly. We leave volume out by choice — the methods differ too much for an honest comparison. And the P2P row measures our own scanner’s reach, not the exchange’s full currency list.

In short: the difference

What WEEX is: a venue built for leveraged trading. On the market since 2018, jurisdiction: Singapore, its own WXT token.

What Kraken is: a venue with direct fiat. On the market since 2011, jurisdiction: San Francisco, USA.

What WEEX gives you

Against a regulated venue, WEEX wins on other things: A young venue that grew fast: seventeen hundred spot pairs and a thousand perpetuals, more than many long-established names. There is P2P in dozens of currencies, copy trading, savings and its own WXT token. The exchange is known for the user protection fund it holds publicly.

Strong sides: 1700 spot pairs and 1000 contracts, a broad P2P, a public protection fund.

What Kraken gives you

The terminal is strong on contracts, but Kraken has its own ground: The oldest venue we cover, running since 2011 under US regulation. Its distinction is real money: around seven hundred dollar pairs and five hundred and forty-six euro pairs, more than anyone here. There is spot, perpetual futures with hourly funding, staking and institutional services. Kraken is how we compute the live dollar rate in our stablecoin section.

Strong sides: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding.

What decides it

  • Age. Kraken has run since 2011, WEEX since 2018 — a gap of 7 years. It guarantees nothing on its own, but the older venue has been through more market cycles.
  • Jurisdiction. WEEX sits in Singapore, Kraken in San Francisco, USA. It shapes both the checks you pass and what the venue has to disclose.
  • Native token. WXT on WEEX cuts fees and opens launches; Kraken has no such lever.
  • Strengths side by side. WEEX: 1700 spot pairs and 1000 contracts, a broad P2P, a public protection fund; Kraken: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding.
  • Which job. WEEX is for anyone who needs a wide choice of pairs and a live P2P in their currency, while Kraken is for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins.
  • Worth remembering. WEEX: eleven withdrawal networks — fewer than the largest venues. Kraken: entry-level fees run higher than neighbours — it pays off at larger volumes.

Which one fits you

WEEX — for anyone who needs a wide choice of pairs and a live P2P in their currency.

Kraken — for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins.

What people ask most

WEEX: Where is P2P on WEEX? At /buy-crypto, not /p2p — the expected link leads nowhere. Our rates and route sections pull WEEX ads automatically.

WEEX: How do I fund a WEEX account? Under Assets choose Deposit, then the coin and the network, and send to the address shown. The network must match the one you send from: a network mismatch is the most common way to lose coins, and the exchange warns about it separately in its own guide.

WEEX: What does WEEX charge? 0.1% for both maker and taker on spot. The exchange publishes the rate per pair in its instrument directory, so you can verify it yourself.

Kraken: Can a withdrawal be cancelled? While it is "Initiated", yes; while "Pending", sometimes. Once the transaction is broadcast to the blockchain it cannot be cancelled. That is true everywhere, but Kraken states the states explicitly.

Kraken: What does trading on Kraken actually cost? At the entry tier, 0.80% taker and 0.40% maker, from its own fee schedule. The rate falls with thirty-day volume: reaching 0.20% taker takes a quarter of a million dollars traded in a month.

Kraken: What makes Kraken useful for stablecoins? It has genuine USD pairs, which is how we compute the live dollar rate. Without that anchor, USDT’s deviation would be measured against USDT itself.

Both at once

Nothing stops you from opening an account on both: it is free, and a pair of venues almost always beats any single one on price. Euro or hryvnia comes in on the regulated venue, moves as a stablecoin to the terminal, and the position opens there. Withdrawals take the same road back.

Live numbers

The table above is built from our own market snapshots: USDT pairs, perpetual contracts, P2P ads and currencies, withdrawal networks and the cheapest one. WEEX and Kraken can be compared on facts rather than promises.

What the numbers say

Spot is wider on WEEX: 1,671 USDT pairs against 45, a gap of 37.1×. On perpetual contracts WEEX is ahead — 1,000 to 282. Only WEEX gives a measurable USDT withdrawal: 0.10 over POLYGON. Our scanner reads P2P on WEEX only — 89 currencies.
