Why do tenge prices differ between exchanges?

The KZT market: what to know
The Kazakh market runs almost entirely on Kaspi: the overwhelming majority of ads accept payment there, and ads without Kaspi tend to sit unfilled. The tenge trades on all six venues, but depth varies — limits are higher on the larger exchanges. The USDT premium over the National Bank rate is usually moderate but widens sharply on days when the currency moves.

Working with the tenge almost always comes down to Kaspi: without it the pool of ads shrinks several times over and the rate worsens noticeably. The internal spread on the large venues stays within two to four percent; on the small ones it reaches ten — which is not an opportunity but a sign that nobody is trading there. Check a venue ad count before trusting its price.

The premium over the NBK rate
The premium shows whether a dollar costs more or less inside the country than the regulator says. For Kazakhstan it is one of the most honest indicators of the real rate, because it is built from thousands of live trades rather than a published figure.
